GABRIELE POLITI

Gabriele Politi was born in Palermo, Italy, in 1974. In 1996 he graduated in violin at the Conservatoire “V. Bellini” of Palermo and in 2004 in Arts at the University of Palermo with a thesis in History of Music on Corelli’s Violin Sonatas. He then specialized with D. Bogdanovic in Padua and also attended violin workshops directed by F. Manara, R. Koelman, C. Romano, E. Melkus and M. Quarta.
He was a member of the Orchestra Giovanile Italiana (OGI) in which he gained a special fellowship reserved to First Violins’ Concertino and performed in several concerts in Italy and Germany (under the baton of P. Bellugi, L. Berio, A. Faia, D. Gatti, C. M. Giulini, V. Globokar, E. Inbal, A. Pinzauti and G. Sinopoli). For many years he has been a permanent member of the chamber orchestra I Solisti Aquilani, with whom he played in Italy and abroad, also as soloist.
Since November 2000 he has been attending the class of Baroque Violin held by E. Onofri at the Conservatorio “V. Bellini” of Palermo and since 2002 he has been a member of the Ensemble di Strumenti Antichi del Conservatorio di Palermo and of the Studio di musica antica Antonio il Verso. He regularly plays with the ensembles Concerto Italiano, Academia Montis Regalis, Accademia per Musica, Insieme Strumentale di Roma, Accademia Ottoboni, etc.
